Oral Cancer Screening & Exam in Rockford, IL
One American dies from oral cancer every hour of every day, and about 30,000 cases of oral cancer are diagnosed each year. The American Dental Association is leading the charge to drastically reduce these statistics by recommending everyone get oral cancer screenings. Just like the screenings for other cancers have helped increase the odds of mortality, the screenings for oral cancer are very effective.
Unfortunately, oral cancer is too often discovered in its late stages. By this point, cancer has had the chance to spread to other parts of the body, and the mortality rate is affected. However, when detected early, the survival rate for oral cancer jumps up to 90%! The earlier that oral cancer can be identified, the better chance the patient has of surviving.
